Congratulations to Fraser and Frenchie who were back in action on Saturday 26th November, both representing the club in Lincoln.

Frenchie returned from a three year break with a confident, cool and calm demolition of Lucas Kielbowicz, causing the Polish fighter’s corner to throw in the towel in the third round. Making the night a 100% success for Leicester, Fraser extended his unbeaten run, destroying Newcastle’s Ian Pounder, who was also retired by his corner, this time early in the second round.

Well done to both fighters for continuing the winning runs for Leicester Kickboxing in 2011.

Natalie McCarron beats Nielsen to win second World title

Ireland’s  Natalie McCarron challenged for a second professional World title against Helene Nielsen of Denmark on the 4th November in front of a sold out crowd at the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny, Ireland. Natalie the current ISKA Women’s World Professional Bantamweight Champion (which she won in July in Western Super Mare, England in front of Sky TV cameras was fighting for the ISKA Women’s Professional Super Flyweight Title.

The fight went the distance but McCarron cleverly took control of the bout from the start taking the centre of the ring making the Danish girl work hard.  As the fight went on McCarron grew in confidence, and this clearly showed in the second half of their ten round fight with Nielsen slowing down.  McCarron showing tremendous fitness and stamina and skill, throughout the fight and stayed in control until the last round when Nielsen tried one last attack, but McCarron smiled shaking her head, letting her know that she was still in command.

All 3 judges scored a unanimous decision to McCarron.  Afterwards a jubilant Champion Natalie said “It’s such a fantastic feeling in winning this second world title.  I have worked so hard this year.  I would like to thank my coaches, Paddy Toland & Gerard Conaty, and all at Pt’s Kickboxing gyms. Paddy Toland has showed me what i need to do to become a winner.  Without him I would not be standing here now with these two World titles talking to you.  I would like to thank all my friends’ family and everyone who supported me throughout this”.

The Letterkenny Ghost” Tommy McCafferty the current ISKA Middleweight and Light Middleweight World Kickboxing Champion had his first fight under K1 rules.  Crowd favourite McCafferty, tore out of the starting blocks and had his opponent England’s Martin Sweeney on the canvas in the opening seconds much to the crowds delight.  After an 8 second count McCafferty showed superior timing, power & skill throughout the fight.

It was amazing that “The Ghost” was actually only having his first fight under K1 rules as he strutted around the ring like a seasoned campaigner.  In the end Tommy was too much for his opponent winning a clear and concise decision and all 3 judges’ scorecards.
